Aluminum – a material for the demanding
Aluminum profiles are lightweight, yet exceptionally durable and resistant to deformation, which allows for the construction of large, stable glazing. This material is resistant to corrosion, UV radiation, temperature fluctuations or moisture – thanks to which aluminum windows do not require maintenance and retain their appearance for many years.
Modern systems use profiles with a thermal break, made of an insulating material (e.g. polyamide with the addition of glass fiber), which effectively eliminates thermal bridges and improves the insulation parameters of the entire structure.
High thermal and acoustic insulation
Contrary to popular belief, well-designed aluminium windows achieve very good insulation parameters. The heat transfer coefficient Uw can be as low as 0.8 W/m²K, which allows them to be used in energy-efficient and even passive buildings. The key here is the selection of the right system of profiles and insulating glass with a warm spacer frame and the use of appropriate compression seals.
Acoustic insulation is also at a high level, especially in systems with deep installation and with glass packages of increased thickness (e.g. 48–60 mm). This solution works great in noisy environments – e.g. in city centres or on main communication arteries.
Design flexibility and design
Thanks to the high strength of aluminium, it is possible to create exceptionally large and non-standard glazing – e.g. HST sliding systems, corner windows without a mullion, or glass facades. Aluminium windows are available in almost any colour from the RAL palette, as well as in powder-coated, anodised or wood-effect versions.
Their slim, modern appearance fits perfectly into the designs of energy-efficient, minimalist or industrial houses. The profiles can also be flush with the frame (so-called windows with a hidden sash), which allows for a uniform, elegant line on the facade.
